Based between Santiago and Valdivia

Interdisciplinary artist, with an educational background in Fine Arts (Goldsmiths University, PhD), Dance (ARCIS – Bachelor, Paris 8 – Graduate studies) and Literature (University of Chile – Bachelor). Her creative work transits between experiences, performances, choreographies, instalaciones and fine arts. Creating experiences that connect corporeality and its surroundings, her proposals seek to expand and reorganize perceptive, sensorial and eco-social possibilities.

Currently completing her final year of a practice-based Doctorate in the Department of Fine Art at Goldsmiths, University of London, focusing on somatic connection with surroundings; situated identity; and interconnection with other non-human species, from an ecological and intercultural perspective.

Her visual work explores mixed techniques, organic materialities and diverse technologies. Some of her pieces include ice sculpture, digital collage, digital printing on fabric, digital weaving, video, spoken word and sound.

She has presented her work in diverse theaters and galleries such as: Centro NAVE (Chile), Valparaiso Cultural Park (Chile), Casa O de Lastarria (Chile), TATE Modern (UK), Arcola Theatre (UK), Sadler’s Wells (UK), Micadanses (France) and MAINSD’ŒUVRES (France), among others.

Josefina is an associate artist at centro NAVE (Chile).
